Lafayette, LA welterweight Brad Solomon (12-0, 4 KOs) fights for his first major championships Tuesday (Aug. 24) when he meets Puerto Rico's Wilfredo Negron (26-14-1, 19 KOs) at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, FL, just up the road from Miami. The bout is for the vacant WBA International and vacant WBC Latino belts. In his last bout in June, Solomon decisioned previously unbeaten Kenny Galarza over 10.

Lafayette, LA's Jessie Fletcher, won the 80-pound, 10-11-year-old age group at the Title National Championship Tournament in Ripley, TN on June 5. A decorated amateur boxer, Fletcher defeated Memphian Eugene Collins by RSC in the second round. Fletcher only started boxing in January of 2009, but has won four championships in his age group. At 5-foot-3, Kansas City, MO light middleweight Melisenda Perez is used to having to fight much taller opponents. Despite the height disadvantage, Perez has managed to be a force in her division. Winning Streak Ends For Andrews In Decision Loss To West |

RANCHO MIRAGE, CA - Bantamweight Rolanda Andrews saw her two-fight winning streak come to an end on Saturday (Aug.1) at Agua Caliente Casino.
Up against 21-year-old Moreno Valley, CA's Kaliesha West, rated in the Top 5 in the world of most women's boxing organizations, the 40-year-old Andrews, from Atlanta, lost a 6-round unanimous decision.
West (11-1, 2 KOs) rebounded from a unanimous decision loss in her last bout to Ava Knight in an 8-rounder last November. Against Andrews (8-8-1, 4 KOs), West won on the official scorecards 58-56 and 59-55 x 2.
Andrews entered the bout with West after a 4-round split decision victory over Tampa's Jenna Shiver (9-4-1, 2 KOs) and a second-round TKO of Missouri's Leslie McNamara.
