The opponent for light welterweight Verquan "The Show" Kimbrough (21-3-3, 7 KOs) on the July 9 Gladiator X Promotions card from Atlanta's Club Europe is rugged Atlantic City, NJ veteran John "Eastern Beast" Brown (24-18-2, 11 KOs). Lafayette, LA's Jessie Fletcher, won the 80-pound, 10-11-year-old age group at the Title National Championship Tournament in Ripley, TN on June 5. A decorated amateur boxer, Fletcher defeated Memphian Eugene Collins by RSC in the second round. Fletcher only started boxing in January of 2009, but has won four championships in his age group. At 5-foot-3, Kansas City, MO light middleweight Melisenda Perez is used to having to fight much taller opponents. Despite the height disadvantage, Perez has managed to be a force in her division. Weekend Wrap: Harris TKO'd In Bid For FECARBOX Heavyweight Title PDF Print E-mail

Deep South boxers were winless in four bouts in Merida, Mexico and Hammond, IN on Saturday (Feb. 20).

At the Poliforum Zamna in Merida, Medford, NY's Derric Rossy successfully defended his WBC FECARBOX Heavyweight championship, winning by TKO at 1:34 of the second round over Martin, TN's Joseph Harris. The fight was scheduled for 12 rounds.

It was the sixth straight victory for Rossy (24-2, 14 KOs) since he was TKO'd in the fifth round in May, 2008, by Alexander Dimitrenko in Germany. Harris dropped his third straight and fell to 10-11, 7 KOs.

On the same card, Columbia, SC veteran Dennis McKinney (28-50-1, 14 KOs) lost an 8-round unanimous decision to Trinidad and Tobago slugger Kertson Manswell (19-0, 15 KOs). McKinney was out-weighed 263.5 to 212.75.

At the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, IN, Covington, TN's Marteze "Too Sweet" Logan (26-42-2, 6 KOs) lost a 6-round unanimous decision (60-54 x 3) to Skokie, IL prospect Achour Esoa (7-0, 5 KOs).

Also, Covington, TN light middleweight Rodney Freeman (5-14, 3 KOs) was TKO'd at 2:59 of the opening round by Chicago's John Lewus (23-4, 19 KOs). The bout was scheduled for four.
