The opponent for light welterweight Verquan "The Show" Kimbrough (21-3-3, 7 KOs) on the July 9 Gladiator X Promotions card from Atlanta's Club Europe is rugged Atlantic City, NJ veteran John "Eastern Beast" Brown (24-18-2, 11 KOs). Lafayette, LA's Jessie Fletcher, won the 80-pound, 10-11-year-old age group at the Title National Championship Tournament in Ripley, TN on June 5. A decorated amateur boxer, Fletcher defeated Memphian Eugene Collins by RSC in the second round. Fletcher only started boxing in January of 2009, but has won four championships in his age group. At 5-foot-3, Kansas City, MO light middleweight Melisenda Perez is used to having to fight much taller opponents. Despite the height disadvantage, Perez has managed to be a force in her division. Tuscaloosa, AL Fighters Dominate Opposition On Shooters Card PDF Print E-mail

TEXARKANA, AR - Both Alabama boxers on the March 3 McMurry Promotions card from Shooters Sports Bar were simply too much for their respective opponent.

Super middleweight Gundrick King and heavyweight Leon Dukes both stopped their opposition before the end of their scheduled 4-rounders. Both King and Dukes hail from Tuscaloosa.

King disposed of his Texarkana, TX opponent Jimmie Johnson at 2:29 of the second round. In winning his fourth straight, including his last two at Shooters, King improved to 12-4, 9 KOs.

Johnson fell to 2-3, 2 KOs.

At, 217 pounds, Dukes took out local 255-pound fighter Bobby Pickett by TKO at 1:33 of the third round. Dukes improved to 70, 5 KOs. Pickett is 0-2.

Rochester, NY's Jose Leonardo Cruz won by TKO at 2:14 of the fourth and final round over Texarkana, AR's Christopher Franklin. Cruz, who weighed 150 pounds, snapped a two-bout losing skid and moved to 13-4-2, 9 KOs.

Franklin, who weighed 154, fell to 0-2.

Houston super middleweight Gerardo "Tin Tin" Ibrarra knocked out Texarkana, TX opponent Blake Swanson at 43 seconds of the second round in a scheduled 4-rounder. Ibarra moved to 7-0, 6 KOs. Swanson dropped to 2-2, 1 KO.

In a matchup between fighters each making their pro debut, Texarkana, AR's Jacob Lynn TKO'd Rene Martinez, of Texarkana, TX, at 1:14 of the opening round. Lynn weighed 158, while Martinez weighed 150.
