From Staff Reports TUNICA, MS - Little Rock super middleweight prospect Jonathan Nelson continued his winning ways Saturday night (Jan 30) fighting in the main event at Fitzgerald's Hotel & Casino. Fighting an 8-rounder against 38-year-old Delaware veteran Clarence "Sonny Bono" Taylor, the 23-year-old Nelson pretty much dominated from start to finish and won a unanimous decision. The unbeaten Nelson, who improved to 13-0, 6 KOs, won by a shutout on two official scorecards. The third card had Nelson comfortably ahead, 79-74. Taylor dropped to 14-24-4, 7 KOs. Taylor signed for the fight after Atlanta's Darnell Boone (16-14-2, 6 KOs) originally agreed to the fight. However, Boone fought and lost an 8-round decision in Yonkers, NY two weeks earlier. A featherweight bout slated for four rounds saw Capitol Heights, MD's Gary Russell Jr. take his time before he took out Atlanta's David Orosco Cano by TKO at 2:58 of the opening round. Russell improved to 7-0 with his fourth knockout. Orosco dropped to 1-7. Atlanta light welterweight Rohan Wilson improved to 3-2-1, 1 KO after winning a 4-round unanimous decision over Memphan Dedrick Bell (1-1, 1 KO). In light middleweight action, Missouri's Nathan Kempa and Marshall County, TN's Brandon Oldham fought to a 4-round draw. Women's light welterweight action saw Stone Mountain, GA's Nicole Woods (9-6-1, 1 KO) and Little Rock's Kimberly Connor (5-1-2, 3KOs) fight to a draw over eight rounds.
