At 5-foot-3, Kansas City, MO light middleweight Melisenda Perez is used to having to fight much taller opponents. Despite the height disadvantage, Perez has managed to be a force in her division. Perez won a 4-round unanimous decision over Batesville, AR's April Ward Saturday night (July 10) on Les Bonano's "Battle On The Bay" card at Hollywood Casino. Read more...

Menard To Meet Cannon For UBO All-American Lightwelt Belt July 31 PDF Print E-mail
From Chad Broussard
BoxNcar Promotions

RAYNE, LA - On July 31 in the city of Rayne, La., at the Rayne Civic Center "Rock Hard Mighty" Mason Menard (11-1, 9 KOs) has his toughest test to date when he takes on Missouri's Robbie Cannon (12-5-1, 6 KOs).

I have been trying to put this fight together for nearly two years. Cannon lost his last two bouts - one to 147-pounder Brandon Baue (11-3), and Tyrese Hendrix (16-0 at the time). This fight will be a great. At stake is the UBO All America Lightweight title.

Also, Rayne super middleweight "Blazin' an Amazin'" Todd Manuel (3-0) will also raise the bar as he takes on Ron Reaves (2-1, 1 KO). This will also be Manuel's toughest test to date.

Lafayette, LA light heavyweight Bailey Bobbitt (2-0, 1 KO) will be fighting Mack McGee, who is fresh out of the amateurs as he makes his professional debut. Bailey has no amateur experience, so this should be a very good battle.

Blake "The Candyman" Prevost (13-1, 5 KOs), from Eunice, LA, will be fighting a great fight against VERY tough Joey Hixon (1-7), from nearby Shreveport, LA.

Mississippi welterweight Bobby "The Prodigy" Bryant (4-0, 3 KOs) returns to Acadiana in an attempt to keep his unbeaten record intact. His opponent will be named early next week.

"Southern Pride Fighter" light welterweight Gary Bergeron (11-5, 6 KOs), of Chalmette, LA, will battle with Grand Rapids, MI. native Reggie "2Gun" Nash (9-24-1, 2 KOs).

Making his long-awaited professional debut will be Montique "Gunner" Hammond. He takes on fellow debuter Anthony Collins.

In what so many are saying will be the fight of the night, Sardis, MS veteran super middleweight William "Pete" Johnson (9-21-1, 3 KO) will fight Memphian Tyrone Dowdy (4-24, 3 KOs). Both fighters dislike one another and both are desperate for a win. Both fighters have boxed on two occasions in Rayne, both getting beat twice.

We are trying to find someone willing to fight Houston super featherweight Ashley Alvarado (1-0, 1 KO). I watched her (June 6) fight (against Maria Ruiz, a TKO-2 victory) on You Tube, and I would be scared to fight her as well. This girl can fight and can punch. I will do everything in my power to get this fight made as well.

Tickets are available at Red Lerille's, Planet Nutrition, Rayne's Cajun Fitness or go to www.boxncar.com for online ticket sales. I have three VIP tables left, so call if you need one, two or all three.

I look forward to seeing you at "FIGHT NIGHT."
