Lafayette, LA's Jessie Fletcher, won the 80-pound, 10-11-year-old age group at the Title National Championship Tournament in Ripley, TN on June 5. A decorated amateur boxer, Fletcher defeated Memphian Eugene Collins by RSC in the second round. Fletcher only started boxing in January of 2009, but has won four championships in his age group. At 5-foot-3, Kansas City, MO light middleweight Melisenda Perez is used to having to fight much taller opponents. Despite the height disadvantage, Perez has managed to be a force in her division. Perez won a 4-round unanimous decision over Batesville, AR's April Ward Saturday night (July 10) on Les Bonano's "Battle On The Bay" card at Hollywood Casino. Read more...

Bout 2 - (201-plus, Masters) - Tony Dunlap (West Virginia) def. Phil Wiggers (Boxing Resource Center), by points (2-1)

Bout 3 - (152 pounds) - Pedro Olivas (Boxing Resource Center) def. Cody Lyng (Battleground Boxing), by points (2-1)

Bout 4 - (201 pounds, Masters) - John Osterdick (Chattanooga) def. Dewees Berry Boxing Resource Center), by points (3-0)

Bout 5 - (201-plus, Masters) - Shayne Lavender (Club KO) def. Dennis DeCocker (Nashville Boxing Club), by points (3-0)

Bout 6 - (132 pounds) - Alexander Chang (LaVergne) def. Austin Dulay (Battleground), by points (3-0)

Proceeds from this event go to pay Boxing Resource Center rent, utilities, and program costs. BRC is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization run by dedicated coaches who volunteer their time to work with youth and young adults in Olympic-style boxing techniques, tactics, and strategies.
