LITTLE ROCK - Bad Boy Promotions' Thursday, May 6 "Night of Knockout Fights" from Electric Cowboy was aptly named as four of the seven bouts on the card did not go the distance.
In the 6-round main event, Little Rock heavyweight Randy Johnson went fishing and knocked out late sub John Fish in the first round. Johnson improved to 4-2, 3 KOs.
Fish (0-3), Guymon, OK, was a late replacement for Baton Rouge's Nick "Bad News" Brown (0-1).
Popular Fort Smith, AR light heavyweight Sherman Guy entered the ring undefeated for his 4-rounder against Nashville's James Jones. After their 4-rounder, Guy (2-1, 1 KO) left the ring with his first loss as Jones (1-2) picked up his first victory as he won by unanimous decision.
Lexington, TN light heavyweight Nathan Bedwell picked up his first professional victory via a 4-round unanimous decision over Pine Bluff veteran Dominique Azeez. Bedwell moved to 1-2, while the 41-year-old Azeez dropped to 3-21, 3 KO.
Former Mid-South Golden Glove champion Caleb Turpitt, from Sheridan, AR, got back on the winning track with an opening-round knockout of West Memphis, AR's Anthony Collins in welterweight action. Collins was a late replacement for Tim Reynolds. Turpitt went to 1-1. It was the pro debut for Collins.
In 4-round middleweight action, Little Rock middleweight Orlando Utsey won his pro debut in impressive fashion. He TKO'd Memphis veteran Tyrone Dowdy (4-24, 3 KOs) in the third round.
Batesville, AR welterweight Hunter Limbaugh won his pro debut with a first-round TKO of Fort Smith, AR's Steven Meadows, who was also making his pro debut.
And Pine Bluff, AR welterweight Quintavis Rabun won a 4-round split decision over Benton, AR's Aray McAllister. It was the pro debut for each fighter. |
