Broussard Vows Exciting Night Of Boxing On Feb. 25 In Rayne, LA PDF Print E-mail
By Chad Broussard
BoxNcar Promotions

RAYNE, LA - January 26 - A great joy for this past weekend was to travel to Greenville, MS. with all the BoxNcar Promotions fighters to join lightweight Jarred "Lethal Weapon" Leblanc, who has been training there for the past couple weeks.

That is probably the most grueling strength and conditioning class in the United States. To watch them go through the workout, then drive a short distance to put their boxing gloves on, and go right back to work.

All this with the hopes of getting everyone to come out and support their efforts on the Feb. 25 BoxNcar Promotions card from the Rayne (LA) Civic Center. I simply can not wait until fight night to see first hand the fireworks fly. With this line-up I have set, it can only be dynamic.

Opening the evening will be Bailey Bobbitt (pro debut) fighting Bay St. Louis, MS veteran Ernest Parfait.

"There is no way a guy making his pro debut can beat me. No way," Parfait told me.

We shall see. Bailey is so set and so ready for some action. To watch this kid listen as he does and give his 110 percent at whatever I say is incredible. I am so pumped for Bailey to make his pro debut and do it before his friends and family. That is awesome.

Rayne light heavyweight Todd Manuel (1-0) fights Sardis, MS vet William "Pete" Johnson (9-19-1, 3 KOs). I promise you Todd has his hands full. William Johnson is a very rough customer and simply refuses to lose. Some boxing fans remember Johnson when he fought in Rayne two years back and lost a split decision to an undefeated fighter. Let's see if Todd can go 2-0.

Possibly in what might be the fight of the night, Carencro cruiserweight Jessie Patin (2-1, 2 KOs) will be fighting Tennessee's Tyrone Dowdy. This is a very interesting matchup. They both fight very similarly. They both are about 5-foot-9 and roughly the same reach. Dowdy looks a lot like a Mack truck. I have said Jessie is the hardest-hitting white boy I have ever known.

Let's go. One must rise up, and one must fall down, flip a coin. Who you got?

Breaux Bridge, LA light middleweight Jarred "The Lethal Weapon" Leblanc (11-0, 7 KOs) is in for the toughest fight of his life when he meets cagey Brooklyn, NY fighter Rohan Nanton (7-24-1, 6 KOs). Nanton has been training in New York. He was scheduled to fight a week earlier then our fight and has dropped that fight. He said he is going to take this fight because he will win.

Nanton is unaware of how hard Jarred is training, away from everyone, including his children. Jarred is going to be focused, hungry, angry, fired up and ready to rumble. That's a fact. This will be a blistering hot, hot, fight.

Olive Branch, MS welterweight Bobby "The Prodigy" Bryant (2-0, 2 KOs) was smokin' hot all the way through the amateurs. He made his pro debut last October in Rayne. He loves the atmosphere and the people, so we called him back. He will be up against very, very tough and very durable Richard Dinkins, of Mobile, AL.

Dinkins, a veteran of 61 fights, is a die-hard University of Alabama fan. He says if Alabama can pull off a National title, then he is just that inspired to pull off just as big of an upset.

I said it. I will keep saying it. Rayne lightweight "Rock Hard Mighty Mason Menard (9-1, 7 KOs) and Thibodaux's "The Cajun Arturo Gatti" Thomas Dardar (8-1, 5 KOs) will be the biggest, hardest-fought fight in the past several years we have witnessed.

Dardar will not back down. He will come from weird angles and throw shots between his legs, under his arms, from every direction we thought to be impossible. Dardar has said to me, along with his trainer on more than one occasion: 'we are coming to get Louisiana State Lightweight title." I guarantee you Dardar will be in the best shape of his life and fully prepared to go home the Louisiana Lightweight champion.

I personally have failed a couple of times in my fighters careers, I made a promise to myself and my brothers we would not fail again.

Tickets are $20 general admission and VIP tables (seats eight) re 800. Tickets can be purchased at at Red Lerille's, Planet Nutrition or Cajun Fitness in Rayne. Fans can go to www. boxncar.com.

Come out and enjoy the fights on Feb. 25.
