Lafayette, LA's Jessie Fletcher, won the 80-pound, 10-11-year-old age group at the Title National Championship Tournament in Ripley, TN on June 5. A decorated amateur boxer, Fletcher defeated Memphian Eugene Collins by RSC in the second round. Fletcher only started boxing in January of 2009, but has won four championships in his age group. At 5-foot-3, Kansas City, MO light middleweight Melisenda Perez is used to having to fight much taller opponents. Despite the height disadvantage, Perez has managed to be a force in her division. Boxing Competition In Georgia Games Begins July 18 at Doraville Arena

DORAVILLE, GA - The 2009 Georgia Games Championships in boxing are scheduled for July 18-19 at the Doraville Arena.
Weigh-in begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 18. The start of Saturday's competition has yet to be announced, but Sunday's bouts begin at 2 p.m. Entry fee is $15 per competitor. An additional $5 fee is required for out-of-state residents.
Registration is day of the event only.
Divisions of competition are in Junior Olympic, Novice and Open (male and female). USA Boxing Junior Olympic rules will apply for Junior Olympic boxers. USA Boxing memberships are required for all divisions.
Medals will be awarded to each champion and runner-up in each weight class.
