Ben Foust Packs A Wallop In Gloves
Despite 11 knockouts in his first 12 fights, unbeaten Ben Foust has pretty much flown under the radar. A 27-year-old Jacksboro, TN native, Foust travels to nearby Campbell County Golden Gloves Boxing Gym to train. He is trained by his father, John Faust. Ben Foust has boxed since he was nine years old. Ben Foust has mostly fought at light heavyweight throughout his career.
He said he planned to drop down to middleweight after his third-round KO over Jonesboro, AR's Craig Ganby (7-3-1, 6 KOs) on March 7 at West Junior High School in West Memphis, AR.
Boxing Style: I'm a boxer-puncher.
Goals: I want to see how far I can go. I would like to see if I could win a world title some day. I want to see if I've got what it takes to be a world champion.
Boxing Idols: My favorite boxer of all-time is Roy Jones Jr. I also like Pernell Whitaker and "Sugar" Ray Leonard.
Boxing Inspiration: I had always enjoyed watching boxing with my father. He was the one who got me motivated to drive the 45 miles to the gym in Knoxville a couple of times per week to work out.
Education: I've got my B.A. Degree in elementary education from Lincoln Memorial University.
Amateur Background: I was 14-time east Tennessee Golden Glove champion, five-time Southern Golden Gloves champion, a Bronze Medalist in the 2003 National Golden Gloves and two-time Junior National Golden Gloves runner-up. I was voted Best Boxer in the Mid-South Golden Gloves Tournament.
Best Win: My best victory was against Ganby.
