Barnett-Hendrix Bout Heads Up July 24 Prize Fight Card PDF Print E-mail
From Nate Yoder
Prize Fight Boxing

TUNICA, MS - Prize Fight Boxing, in association with Global Boxing Gym and Tecate, present one of the best fight cards, and one of the best main events ever at the Fitz Hotel & Casino in Tunica as it returns July 24 with it's latest installment of "Fights At The Fitz."

"Fights At The Fitz" is a record-breaking series that has showcased many of the top young fighters in the world today. World-ranked fighters such as Fernando Guerrero, Shawn Porter, Lamont and Anthony Peterson and many more have see their careers blossom at "Fights At The Fitz."

This coming Saturday, July 24, should be no different as top lightweight prospects Ty Barnett and Tyrese Hendrix meet in an 8-round battle with future title implications at stake.

Barnett (17-1-1, 12 KOs), from Washington D.C., looks to be the hunter in this fight as he attempts to use his great power-punching ability and smooth boxing skills to limit the slick southpaw Hendrix.

The veteran Hendrix (18-1-1, 7 KOs), from Atlanta, GA, attempts to use great ring generalship, pure boxing ability and quick feet to keep Barnett off balance and land a shot that could swing the night into his favor.

"This is probably the most competitive and compelling main event we have ever brought to the Fitz. It is an intriguing matchup between the great boxer and the great puncher. Everything is on the line. The winner goes on to regional title fights and the loser has to climb the ladder again. I can't wait," stated promoter Russ Young, of Prize Fight.

The four-bout undercard is also packed with very talented boxers.

One of those young fighters is the outspoken and charismatic Taureano Johnson.

Johnson is considered by many to be one of the top junior middleweight prospects in the world today. Johnson (3-0, 3 KOs), a member of the 2008 Bahamian Olympic Boxing Team and native of Nassau, Bahamas, has electric power in both hands and will look to impose that power on Roy Ashworth of New Orleans, LA, in a 4-round clash.

Also on the card is light heavyweight prospect Donta Woods (7-0, 6 KOs), of Atlanta, GA, as he will lay it all on the line against cagy veteran Terry Porter, of Little Rock, AR.

This exciting five-bout card will be replayed on SportSouth July 31 into 10 million homes throughout the southeastern United States.

Tickets for this event can be purchased by calling the Fitz Casino Gift Shop at (800)-766-LUCK(5825), by calling Ticketmaster at (901)-525-1515, or by visiting www.ticketmaster.com. The doors for this event will open at 6:30 p.m./CT and the first fight will start at 7 p.m./CT.
