Lafayette, LA's Jessie Fletcher, won the 80-pound, 10-11-year-old age group at the Title National Championship Tournament in Ripley, TN on June 5. A decorated amateur boxer, Fletcher defeated Memphian Eugene Collins by RSC in the second round. Fletcher only started boxing in January of 2009, but has won four championships in his age group. At 5-foot-3, Kansas City, MO light middleweight Melisenda Perez is used to having to fight much taller opponents. Despite the height disadvantage, Perez has managed to be a force in her division. LAFAYETTE, LA - Ragin' Cajun Boxing Club wrapped up the Louisiana Governor's Games on Sunday (June 21) by winning four of seven finals in which it participated. Boxers representing Ragin' Cajun who won in the finals included Jessie Fletcher (80 pounds), Eric Bui (90 pounds), Chance Fontenot (110 pounds) and Wilfred Fuselier (201 pounds).

Savannah (TX) Boxing Club Earns Five Wins Saturday In Governor's Games |

LAFAYETTE, LA - After winning only two matches on Friday during the first night of boxing competition of the Louisiana Governor's Games, Savannah (TX) Boxing Club, of Houston, earned five victories on Saturday (June 20) at Lafayette High School.
Ringside Fitness Center, of Alexandria, LA, and Frog Capital, of Rayne, LA, both picked up three victories on Saturday. Carencro, LA's Backstreet Boxing Club, whih won five matches on Friday, won two Saturday. Golden Meadow, LA's Bayouside Boxing Club and Lafayette's Breaux Brothers Creole Boxing Club both won two matches on Saturday. All finals are on Sunday.

Backstreet Boxing Club Begins Governor's Games On High Note |

From Ragin' Cajun Boxing Club LAFAYETTE, LA - Backstreet Boxing Club, of Carencro, began Louisiana Governor's Games competition on Friday (June 19) on the fast track by winning six matches at the Lafayette High School Gymnasium. Bouts continue Saturday with 30 elimination bouts. Sunday's finals are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
