Lafayette, LA's Jessie Fletcher, won the 80-pound, 10-11-year-old age group at the Title National Championship Tournament in Ripley, TN on June 5. A decorated amateur boxer, Fletcher defeated Memphian Eugene Collins by RSC in the second round. Fletcher only started boxing in January of 2009, but has won four championships in his age group. LINCOLN, RI - Two Deep South boxers are on the Friday (May 7) "Spring Fever" card from the Twin River Event Center, promoted by Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment and Sports, Inc.
A 4-round heavyweight bout pits Columbia, SC's Winston Thorpe (2-0, 2 KOs) against local favorite Jesse Barboza (3-0, 3 KOs), a three-time New England Golden champion, from Barnstable, MA.
Also, Reidsville, NC middleweight Damion Reed makes his pro debut against New Haven, CT's Rick Dawson, the older brother of light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson.
The main event is a NABA Junior Welterweight championship between former USBA Super Bantamweight champion Jason "School Boy” Pires (22-3-1, 9 KOs), from New Bedford, MA, and Michael "Cold Blood" Clark (39-5-1, 18 KOs), former NABF, IBC and WBC Continental Americas Lightweight champion.

GREENVILLE, MS - Philadelphia featherweight Eric "The Outlaw" Hunter made the most of his first trip to Mississippi.
Fighting in the scheduled 8-round main event at Harlow's Casino on the Friday, April 30 card, Hunter stopped Atlanta's Jose Hernandez at 2:59 of the third round.
The TKO victory was the eighth straight for the 23-year-old Hunter since his 6-round split decision loss to Ecuador's Carlos Vinan in 2007 in Philadelphia.

The sold out crowd of 842 people inside Legends Event Center enjoyed nearly four hours of professional boxing at its finest as 14 fighters from six different weight divisions stepped into the ring to show off their boxing skills.
This high energy crowd combined with Legend’s intimate setting created the perfect atmosphere for southern fight fans to enjoy seven exciting bouts including a controversial main event. These fans experienced a Vegas style boxing event like never seen before in Atlanta creating a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.

In a battle of undefeated super middleweights Friday night (April 30), Houston's Marcus "Too Much" Johnson was just that for Winston-Salem, NC's Derek "The Black Lion" Edwards.
Fighting in the 10-round main event at the UIC Pavilion and televised by Showtime, Johnson won a unanimous decision by a comfortable margin. Johnson (19-0, 14 KOs) defeated Edwards (25-1, 13 KOs) by scores of 97-92 and 98-92 X 2. With the victory, Johnson picked up the vacant WBO NABO Super Middleweight championship.
