Lafayette, LA's Jessie Fletcher, won the 80-pound, 10-11-year-old age group at the Title National Championship Tournament in Ripley, TN on June 5. A decorated amateur boxer, Fletcher defeated Memphian Eugene Collins by RSC in the second round. Fletcher only started boxing in January of 2009, but has won four championships in his age group. At 5-foot-3, Kansas City, MO light middleweight Melisenda Perez is used to having to fight much taller opponents. Despite the height disadvantage, Perez has managed to be a force in her division. First off, "Rock Hard Mighty" Mason Menard (11-1-9 KOs) will be in his first-ever 10-round fight. At this time, it is a good possibility that he will be fighting for the American Lightweight title. I have been on the phone with the commission from Las Vegas, NV and we are still yet to reach an agreement, but I am very near positive it will happen.

Little Rock's Randy Johnson Wins Main Event At Electric Cowboy PDF Print E-mail

LITTLE ROCK - Bad Boy Promotions' Thursday, May 6 "Night of Knockout Fights" from Electric Cowboy was aptly named as four of the seven bouts on the card did not go the distance.

In the 6-round main event, Little Rock heavyweight Randy Johnson went fishing and knocked out late sub John Fish in the first round. Johnson improved to 4-2, 3 KOs.

Fish (0-3), Guymon, OK, was a late replacement for Baton Rouge's Nick "Bad News" Brown (0-1).

R&R Promotions is the top promotional company in the state of Ohio. The May 29 card will be our 11th event since we started to promote professional fights in May of 2008. R&R Promotions is also credited for hosting the first-ever Midwest Olympic Trials in 2007. R&R Promotions also hosted the 2010 USA Boxing Under-19 National Tournament.

Howard was last in the ring in November when he scored three knockdowns in the first round en route to a opening-round TKO over Parsons, TN's Roderick McGary, at Cumberland County High School in Crossville.

Howard won his first nine fights. In his 10th bout, Howard fought to an 8-round draw with St. Louis, MO's Leon Bobo (18-5-1, 2 KOs) at Fitzgerald's Hotel and Casino in Tunica, MS, the site of eight of Howard's pro fights. He has also fought in Doraville, GA and Augusta, GA.



 
Thorpe Upsets Barboza To Remain Unbeaten PDF Print E-mail

LINCOLN, RI - Former world title challenger Michael “Cold Blood” Clark pitched a near shutout against New Bedford police officer Jason “School Boy” Pires in tonight’s (May 7) main event on the “Spring Fever” card, presented by Classic Entertainment and Sports, Inc., at Twin River.

Clark (40-5-1, 18 KOs), fighting out of Columbus (OH), out-punched a game Pires (22-4-1), 1996 U.S. Olympic Team alternate, from the opening bell, flooring him in the eighth round. Clark captured the NABA U.S. junior welterweight title by way of a unanimous 9-round decision (90-80, 90-80, 89-81).

Two undefeated heavyweight prospects entered the ring in tonight’s co-feature. Columbia, SC invader Winston Thorpe (3-0) spoiled Cape Cod’s Jesse “Bad News” Barboza's (3-1) evening via a 4-round split decision. Scores were 39-37 and 39-38 for Thorpe and 39-37 for Barboza.

The pro debut of New Haven super middleweight Rick Dawson, older brother of Chad Dawson, couldn’t have gone any better as he stopped pro-debuting Damion Reed, of Reidsville, NC, at 1:54 of the second round.
